WOW! Today was not a good run. My legs were like lead. They just would not go and I couldn't keep the pace. I guess I was just tired from Sunday's 18 mile run. And I think it was mostly that my thighs were tired because I kept catching myself running on my toes (which makes my calves work instead of my thighs). Ah well ... every day can't be a good run and tomorrow will be better. I was supposed to run the 4 miles today at an 8:45 pace. I came close the first 2 miles (8:51 pace both laps). But then after mile 2, I stopped for a minute and stretched my legs to see if that would help and apparently it did more harm than good. The last 2 miles were 9:27 and 9:47. Overall pace was a 9:14. Not horrible but definitely not what I've been running on my Tuesday fast runs. Form was horrible today and I count it a victory that I even finished running. I know I looked like an arthritic old lady hobbling along that last mile. :P I can even see the look of defeat in my half-smile after the run was over.
Tomorrow is a 4 mile run and is supposed to be my hill day. 9 hills this week!
