I know, I know, I know ... I really should bring my mace with me on my early morning runs. But this is not what I'm talking about. Today we are talkin' SAFETY GLASSES! LOL! Who knew running caused such weird side effects. I mean, I'm prepared for blisters, shin splints, ITB issues. But the problem that got me this time last year was chapping under my eyes. I mean so bad that it was cracking and bleeding! Wouldn't be a problem if I could run in the daytime and wear my sunglasses. But I only run when it's light on Sundays which leaves 5 days that my eyes are unprotected. So last year I went out and bought these safety goggles to keep the cold and wind from getting on my eyes. I know they're dorky but I like 'em! And no one sees me anyway because it's dark. So go ahead and laugh but it's much better than bleeding eyes!!
Today was my hill day and I was gonna run the 2 mile warm-up and 2 mile cool-down this morning and do the 7 hills after work. The morning 4 went well. Split times were 9:16, 8:38, 8:41, 8:15 (8:42 average). However, the hills just never happened. I didn't get off work til after 4 and the kids were already home and then I had to take one to swim practice and it just never happened. But here's proof that I had good intentions. Had my stuff all packed for after work and waiting for me in the car.
So ... tomorrow is just supposed to be a 4 mile, 9:00 pace run. I'll do that in the morning and make up the 7 hills in the afternoon.
