I woke up early and it was still dark and super cold so I decided to wait until the sun came up to head out on my 12 mile run. I didn't end up leaving until just after 8am. It was still only 54°! I had a hard time deciding what to wear but I ended up in shorts and a sleeveless shirt because I figured I would warm up fast. But I had no trouble deciding what to wear on my feet cause I finally got some new running shoes yesterday! And I'm in love!! Actually they are the same type I have had for about 4 months but this is the new version. They are a little lighter and the toe box is a little narrower. But everything else feels the same. Here I am before my run in my new kicks!!
I was feeling good from the beginning of the run. About 2.5 miles into the run, I saw my friend Paula out running and she waved me over and I stopped to talk for a second. 45 minutes later I was on my way to finish my run!! :P (Yeah we get a little chatty!) Here's a picture of me and Paula. This is the first one I took and I missed most of our heads but I like it better than the other picture.
And the rest of the run was nice. It was breezy and cool. The first half was mostly into the wind which made for an excellent last half! I am extremely happy with my splits. Although my Sunday runs are supposed to be between a 9:15 and 10:30 pace. Clearly I did not follow that today. But I was feeling good and didn't feel out of breath at all and was just running at a comfortable pace. I may need to adjust my training plan a little cause I think I can do more than my original goal. Anyway, I'll have to think on that. But here are today's splits. 8:58 average on a long run!!!! :D :D :D
Here's one more picture of my new shoes. For anyone looking for some awesome running shoes, these are the Nike LunarGlide+ 2 Women's Running Shoe. I've seen them at most sporting goods stores and they run right at about $100. My last pair lasted me 4 months so they are comfortable and durable. Highly recommended!!!
And that's all for now. Tomorrow is my rest day so I'll post the weekly stats.
