Well it was finally a dry day. But I kinda missed the rain (not the torrential rain yesterday but the nice, drizzly rain). It was just hot and humid and windy today. And it wasn't a good run. I felt terrible! Not sure what was going on this morning but in the 5 miles I ran, I had to stop 3 times! Once was because my left thigh gave out again and I almost had a fall because of that. And the other two times I was just beat! The wind was at my face the first 3 miles and it was just tough to keep the 9:00 pace I was supposed to be running but I was trying and I had to stop because I was feeling lightheaded. I think it's probably because I didn't eat anything before I left and I didn't eat a lot last night. Not gonna make that mistake again. Split times were 8:54, 8:53, 9:05, 9:09, 8:54 (8:59 average). The 4th mile was a complete struggle and during the last mile, I kept having to correct my posture. I was stooping forward which I do when I'm getting tired. (Actually it must be because of my massive boobs pulling my chest to the ground. LOL!!) Anyway, when I run with good posture, I go a lot faster.
After I cooled down, I sat on my front porch for a few minutes and watched the wind whip the trees around. It still looks pretty stormy out there and I wonder if we're gonna get another one today.
Another problem I had this morning was that my regular shoes were still really wet from the rain yesterday. I guess when I was running through 4-6 inch puddles, it makes them a little wet. So I decided to run in my spare pair of shoes. These are a pair that I bought and only wore for like a month because I just never liked them. They still have a lot of life left in them so I figured I would be ok for just 5 miles. I was wrong. I hate these shoes and they gave me a new blister on my left foot and aggravated the one already there. Thumbs down on Brooks Ravenna running shoes.
So I'm just gonna blame today's bad run on the shoes and forget about it. Tomorrow is a 6 mile fartlek run in my good shoes ... after a little snack. And it's gonna be a good one! :)
