Had a 6 mile 85% effort tempo run this morning. And it felt really good! The only complaint would be that my muscles are a little sore and the first half mile or so was kinda rough. But once I got warmed up, it was a great run. My body just needs to get used to running 6 days a week!
Split times today were: 9:14, 9:02, 9:14, 9:03, 8:54, 8:32 (9:00 average). I was trying to stay right around 9:00 so I accomplished that! I did this same run last week and my average pace was a 9:28 with the last mile a 9:42. And I had a really hard time with it. So I'm feeling really good about my progress! But I know I have a long way to go because if I wanna make my marathon goal time, I have to be able to run 8:35 miles for an extended period. 17 weeks left to get there! :D
I ran out by the baseball field again today. I love the big baseballs so I stopped for a minute to take a picture. That was a mistake! Walking is ok but when I actually stop, it's hard to start again!
Then I ran by a couple of corn fields. I'm thinking some of the crops around here are ruined because of the heat we've been having. I don't think the corn stalks are supposed to be brown!
Mile 4 ... looks like the sun is about to come see me! Nice cause it's not hot yet!
A few of my favorite sights on this run out in the country. I love this gate for some reason. And it's just cool looking down the lonely country road. Look ... I almost see a hill! Love that it's so flat around here.
And there it is ... a beautiful Texas sunrise! Supposed to be 102° today but it sure was nice out while I was running this morning. I don't know how anyone doesn't like mornings. They are just so refreshing!
All done with my 6 miles for the day. That makes this runner very happy. I'm also loving my new running singlet. Love the neon green ... and the fact that it was only $5 and totally kept me dry today while I was sweating my a$$ off!
Tomorrow's run is a 4 mile steady 9:00 run. See ya then! :)
going back a bit...it's been a while. good to see...all the pics...nto!
