A Cold and Blustery Day!

Ok ... maybe not exactly cold but much cooler than it has been!  We got some rain yesterday and this morning the first thing I did was check the weather.  Look at this!  No 100°+ weather anywhere in sight!  And check out the 73° I got to run in this morning!  And it was also windy and misty.  Made for a very different run than I have been having.

It seems my alarm clock is going off earlier and earlier.  I usually head out the door by 6:00.  But today I was ready and out by 5:30 because I had to run a bit further than the last couple of days.

Not much to take a picture of today.  It was dark and wet.  But I saw this flag at the baseball field and thought it looked cool all lit up and blowing in the wind.

The run today was an 85% effort tempo run.  My left shin hurt a bit the first couple of miles but I was trying to keep it under 9:30 and I was successful at that.  Split times were 9:25, 9:17, 9:31, 9:29, 9:10, 8:52 (9:17 average).  Not too bad with all of the wind this morning.  And I was lucky because it started raining right after I got home.  I didn't even realize it was supposed to rain and I was not prepared for it if I had gotten stuck in it.  Guess I need to reload some ziplock baggies for my iPod, etc.

Tomorrow's run is a 5 mile 9:00 steady pace run.  Hope my leg is feeling better.  Gonna do some serious stretching today.
