
I couldn't sleep last night. I was trying to decide whether to run 5 or 8 miles. My training schedule says 8 but I was thinking that since tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I don't work that I would save the longer run for then. Then I got up and looked at the training calendar and tomorrow's run is actually only 4. Then I looked at the weather ... 39°! I'm a cold weather wimp so that made my decision for me ... I would go 4 today! I bundled up in tights, long sleeves, gloves and a ski band. I saw myself in the mirror before I left and had to laugh. I was all in black. I looked like a bandit! :) Probably not the best choice of clothes but I knew the sun would be up in about 15 minutes.
The cold does something to me. Makes my bones hurt! The first 40 or 50 steps all I could say was "Ow, ow, ow, ow, OW!!!" At that point, 4 miles seemed like an eternity cause I was freezing and I hurt. So I made the decision just to run it fast! And that's what I did. Was a good run and a PR for that course. Blew away my last one by over 3½ minutes! Ran an 8:35 pace. Maybe this running in cold weather is a good thing for me.
